Morphological and Imaging Features of Male Pseudohermaphroditism in a Feral Cat

Abstract A one-year-old European shorthair feral cat with signs of heat was presented at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University. After physical exam, histology, hormonal analysis, ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) studies were performed. Examination external genitalia revealed absence one testes in scrotal sac presence a structure whose appearance could suggest an enlarged penis-like clitoris small spines. The study showed compatible images left ovary intra-abdominal testis tubular structures, which closely resembled uterine horns. Similar structures confirmed CT study. Exploratory celiotomy uterus undescended attached to horn. Histological examination immature testicular tissue both gonads Persistent Müllerian Duct (PMD). Though karyotype not performed, it presumed be standard 38 XY found pseudohermaphrodites. To date, this type disorder sexual development (DSD) has been scarcely reported cats. Further are on way knowing genetic mechanism disease.
